About this coffee
This coffee is sourced through our good friends and import partners at Sustainable Harvest. Asprasar is a young organization located in the southeastern Tolima, and was formed in early 2016 with a goal of improving the quality of life of its members through earning higher prices for their coffee. It started with 17 women and 83 men, and its members grow coffee between 1,500 and 2,100 meters above sea level.
Currently, the association has 91 members, with two quality control laboratories at different collection points to guarantee the quality of the coffee. It has two collection and trading points in the townships of Bilbao, Planadas and Herrera, De Rioblanco in order to provide a greater ease of coffee transport.
This lot was produced between 1,500 to 2,100 meters above sea level with rich soil that allows for the optimal production of coffee. It is made up of Caturra, Castillo varieties, and is certified Organic and Fair Trade. The coffee underwent 12 hours of fermentation and dried for 10 to 20 days depending on the farm.
We were immediately impressed with this coffees smooth cup quality along with its vibrant acidity. We feel this coffee shines as a standalone but also loved it enough as an espresso component. You can find this coffee holding it down for us in our Vivid Espresso blend as the shiny and vibrant accent component piece to our Vivid Espresso Blend.
