This coffee delivers a delightful fruity bouquet at first sip. Expect a soft sweetness with a silky body, as we're picking up some grapefruit qualities as the cup cools. The black tea florality meets the lovely kiwi sweetness in this year's offering from Rungeto Co-op. Look for dense flavors and a round mouthfeel where sweetness is carried throughout the cup.

About this coffee

Established in 1997, the Rungeto Farmers’ Cooperative Society Limited is nestled in the heart of Embu County, in the Central Province of Kenya. This cooperative was founded with a vision to facilitate the processing and marketing of high-quality coffee products, produced within the favourable, cool altitudes of local coffee communities.

Possessing strong leadership, a steadfast membership, and a robust processing infrastructure, Rungeto has been successful in establishing partnerships with various organisations and institutions. Their main objective is to promote good agricultural practices, aiming to enhance both the quality and yield of members' coffee crops. This concerted effort allows members to secure the best possible price for their coffee.

The society initially started with 30 factories under the Ngiriamu farmers but later liquidated to form the Rung’eto farmers with three key factories: Kii, Karimikui, and Kiangoi.

Farmers from these communities deliver their ripe coffee cherries to the factories where the transformation process begins. The cherries are pulped, fermented, and dried, eventually evolving into parchment coffee. This parchment coffee is then transported to milling factories, where the outer, papery layer is removed to reveal the green coffee beans within.

This refined green coffee is then auctioned in Nairobi, facilitated by the marketing agents at Newmans Kenya Millers. The society has seen consistent growth over the years, producing 500,000 Kgs of clean coffee in the 2019/2020 season, which increased to 550,000 Kgs in the 2020/2021 season.

Through steadfast commitment to quality and growth, the Rungeto Farmers’ Cooperative Society Limited continues to contribute to Kenya's rich coffee landscape. This coffee is here for a limited time!
