About This Coffee
There’s something especially meaningful about coffees that are built around community, and the Nuevo Horizonte from the APASOL association is exactly that.
This is our first year working with APASOL Nuevo Horizonte through our partners at Bridging Tables, a relationship focused green coffee company centered around creating more direct, transparent, and sustainable connections between producers and roasters. Their approach to coffee sourcing deeply aligns with the kind of partnerships we value at Be Bright Coffee: long-term relationships, mutual trust, and coffees with real stories behind them.
Founded in 2022 in the district of Chirinos in Cajamarca, Peru, APASOL Nuevo Horizonte began with just eleven producers united by a shared vision: improving quality of life for coffee-growing families through sustainability, transparency, and collective growth. Today, the association has grown to 182 producing families spread throughout Chirinos and Tabaconas, all working together toward producing exceptional coffees while investing back into their local communities.
Coffee from this region often carries an approachable sweetness that we naturally gravitate toward, and this lot is a beautiful example of that profile. In the cup, we find comforting notes of milk chocolate layered with ripe plum sweetness, soft apricot-like acidity, and a delicate dried citrus finish that keeps the cup lively and refreshing.
What stood out most to us about Nuevo Horizonte wasn’t just the quality in the cup, but the intention behind the organization itself. Their mission centers around sustainability, improving agricultural practices, and creating long-term economic stability for producers and their families. The association also places a strong emphasis on traceability, quality control, and producer education, with nearly half of its members being young producers helping shape the future of coffee in the region.
For roasting, we approached this coffee with balance in mind. The goal was to develop it enough to bring forward rich chocolate sweetness and structure, while preserving the fruit character and gentle citrus complexity that make the cup feel vibrant and expressive.
This is the kind of coffee that feels equally at home as a daily drinker or as a slower cup you sit with and revisit as it cools.
